Whose Christmas present is better ?

Last month my brother showed me this:

And guess what? He actually got this mug for my mum for her Christmas present & she loved it , & go all ..."oh... it's so cute , so funny !!!!" And when I gave her a $100- voucher from Robinsons (her favorite store) as Christmas present all she could say was thanks!

Trying to quite smoking ?

My colleague is trying to quit smoking. She has been smoking since 15 & that's 15 years ago.  She has tried gum, the patch, electronic cigarettes, sweets - everything. Nothing works. Her nerves are frayed she's agitated. Small everyday annoyances get magnified until they're on par with genocide !(that's how she described it)

Today she came to work & told me she would tongue kiss a homeless man if it meant she could suck the nicotine out from between his teeth. 😝😝😝😝😝
Then I reminded her, it'll be difficult to find someone like that in Singapore. See she's from the States :)

What happens if you're 17 & pregnant?

Well your parents take over everything I guess. From planning what to do with the baby & to a large extend what to do with you. Some people give the baby up for adoption & the 17 year old can lead a normal life again, almost as if the pregnancy never happens. Others do keep the baby, the grandparents became the surrogate parents of sorts, as no 17 yr old know anything about bring up babies, not from our society anyway.

Krissy my brother's ex-girlfriend's parents has decided on keeping the child. Maybe because Krissy is the only child anyway. The father of the baby, another 17 year old friend of my brother's wont be involved at all. That's the initial plan.

However all that quickly changed when the baby was born last week. It's a BOY, Benji !!! Very cute, thick curly hair & big black eyes. I went to visit & fell in love immediately. No wonder, everyone wants a part of it now. There's even talks about 'marriage' just to keep the ties alive! I looked at Krissy, she's still a child , herself. The boy friend is almost a replica of my silly brother, the same 'Korean' hair do, dressing etc... sigh....  that's what most 17 year old boys look like anyway.

Krissy's parents were not happy. They didn't like Benji's father, calls him a punk! Well don't know what's next. But I was thinking, marriage at 17??? don't sound like a good idea at all !

Do unexpected things happen to you sometimes?

Not really for me. Usually things are just going by pretty normal. Until this morning. Someone rang the bell early in the morning at 7:30am, we never have visitors that early before. Not even those that we expect, normal people usually visit during lunch or dinner or anything in between. But 7:30 am?? even mail man would not be that early right???

We, (those of us who's awake already ), kind of look at each other & thought  "who's that?" It actually took a while for us to 'collect' ourselves & as usual mum is the one that took charge of the unexpected & went answer the door. I had a bad feeling at that point.

Door opened: it's Krissy & she's pregnant , about 7,8 months I think! Hmmm.... she's my brother's ex-girlfriend & she's only 17 (my brother is 17 also). Can you imagine our surprise, which quickly escalate into real fear!!! I went straight to my brother's room & get him. He'd never woken up so fast in his entire life. Usually, his progress from asleep to awake was slow & very gradual, like Man evolving from plankton. This time , though ,all the lights in his head came on instantly!

What happened next was so dramatic, I couldn't imagine. There's crying, there's explaining & finally when we got the whole story, there's relief! My idiotic brother is not that idiotic after all, it's not his kid. She has no where to go, her parents just kick her out of the house after an argument so she came over as she's hungry & have no money for breakfast. She lived just a minute from us.

After mum has settle her food issue, we get her to rest in my brother's room. Mum than called her parents,who came with her boy friend to get her after a few hours. Everyone looked very embarrassed & apologized for the 'trouble caused'. I felt so bad for Krissy. She has dropped out of poly, & will have the baby. Hope she'll be alright. I could see my brother is still pretty shaken over this- it could have been him.

Why do we even have brothers ....????

a.) they don't respond to a simple text even when you have spent hours planning a family gathering.

b.) they update you with news of your most hated friends & how well they are doing just to irritate you.

c.) they update you constantly about how your mother is complaining about your boy friend from 4,374 km away! (yes I'm in Australia now... unbelievable !!! )

I sent tis to my brother Pete ....lol....

Clients from hell !!!

I usually have good & wonderful clients but last week was bad. Met the client from hell !!! What to do, it's my job. Everything I recommend she's not interested & said it's "so last season...". Things she wanted, we cant find, come on, this is not Paris!

Anyway she finally left, obviously not very satisfy at all. I'm very stressed! My bf was so  supportive. He took me for a nice dinner to celebrate the departure of the client & told me " There's a lot of ugly people in this world. I wish I could keep them all a way from you. " So sweet right ????

Forget about resolutions, live in the moment !

Someone at work ask me what's my resolution this year. I said my resolution is not to have a resolution & just try to live in the moment, sound a little Zen I know. But what's with all these resolution lists which we are going to break anyway. By the middle of January, most would have forgotten they have even written up a list I guess.
